Well water produced at Spurger, TX had high concentrations of Iron and Manganese. WETS provided an aeration/filtration system to the client, Tyler County WSC in 1985. The filters were efficient at reducing the levels of Iron and Manganese below TCEQ’s requirements. The media within the filtration system is highly efficient at reducing the iron and manganese precipitates, effectively improving the quality of drinking water. An aerator with the dimensions of 4 ft by 4 ft by 13 ft is used prior to the filtration system to allow for the oxidation of the soluble iron and manganese contaminants. The aerator has a cross section of 15 ft2.
