In a manner very similar to Point Blank & Stephens Creek WSC well 4 and 6, PB & SC WSC well 1 had issues with arsenic and manganese contamination. The manganese contamination introduced water color problems.
Drawing from its experience with PB & SC WSC well 4 and 6, WETS designed, fabricated and installed a color and arsenic removal system consisting of the three pressure filters; each filter in the pressure filtration system was designed for 33 gpm to accommodate a total design well flow rate of 100 gpm. The pressure filters were 3 ft diameter vessels with dual media consisting of Greensand and anthracite (Greensand is more effective in treating manganese compared to dual sand media). WETS scope also included supply and installation of a fiberglass holding tank and recycle pump, the aboveground and underground piping (PVC SCH 80, and supply and installation of a control panel in the existing MCC
