WETS designed and manufactured a WAFU® (Water Aeration Filtration Unit) to treat 500 GPM of water for hydrogen sulfide treatment and iron removal from water for Grainger Pine Montgomery County MUD 164. The WAFU® is our proprietary patent-pending water treating solution comprising aeration and filtration processes in a single vessel. The design was based on the results of a WETS pilot study, which showed aeration alone would not produce the desired water quality. Water has higher iron and hydrogen sulfide content. Aeration alone would have removed the smell issues, but insoluble ferrous bicarbonate turned into ferric hydroxide resulting in unpleasant color issues in the water.
